چکیده

Abstract The addition of refractory metals represents a promising approach for development future high-entropy alloys (HEAs). Niobium and molybdenum are particularly suitable additives increasing hardness as well wear corrosion resistance. In the context surface protection applications, eutectic (EHEAs) with their homogeneous property profile specific interest. present work, two EHEAs were developed starting from alloy Al 0.3 CoCrFeNi using electric arc melting. Following mechanical microstructural characterization, found to have compositions CoCrFeNiMo 0.75 CoCrFeNiNb 0.5 . For thermal spray processing, powders above prepared by inert gas atomization. coatings produced high-velocity oxy-fuel spraying (HVOF) characterized evaluated compared castings, allowing process–structure–property relationships be derived. Based on results, statements possible application potential can made.

A Promising New Class of High-Temperature Alloys: Eutectic High-Entropy Alloys

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) can have either high strength or high ductility, and a simultaneous achievement of both still constitutes a tough challenge. The inferior castability and compositional segregation of HEAs are also obstacles for their technological applications. To tackle these problems, here we proposed a novel strategy to design HEAs using the eutectic alloy concept, i.e. to achieve ...

Alloying and Processing Effects on the Aqueous Corrosion Behavior of High-Entropy Alloys

The effects of metallurgical factors on the aqueous corrosion behavior of highentropy alloys (HEAs) are reviewed in this article. Alloying (e.g., Al and Cu) and processing (e.g., heat treatments) effects on the aqueous corrosion behavior of HEAs, including passive film formation, galvanic corrosion, and pitting corrosion, are discussed in detail. Corrosion rates of HEAs are calculated using ele...

Ab Initio Predicted Alloying Effects on the Elastic Properties of AlxHf1−xNbTaTiZr High Entropy Alloys

Using ab initio alloy theory, we investigate the equilibrium bulk properties and elastic mechanics of the single bcc solid-solution AlxHf1−xNbTaTiZr (x = 0–0.7, 1.0) high entropy alloys. Ab initio predicted equilibrium volume is consistent with the available experiment. We make a detailed investigation of the alloying effect of Al and Hf on the equilibrium volume, elastic constants and polycrys...

HVOF spraying of nanostructured hydroxyapatite for biomedical applications

A nanostructured hydroxyapatite (HA) feedstock was thermally sprayed on Ti–6Al–4V substrates via high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF process). The particle temperature and velocity for the HA particles in the HVOF jet were monitored during spraying and found to be 1826± 346 ◦C and 638± 82 m/s, respectively. The bioactivity of the coating was investigated in a simulated physiological environment, as an...
